ENGINE TROUBLESHOOTING

Introduction

The tables which follow Indicate troubleshooting procedures based upon certain problem indicators, the

probable causes

the problems, and the recommendations

overcome these problems.

Note that the engine's control system (electrical system) is protected by a 20-Ampere manual reset circuit

breaker located on the rear lifting bracket.

Battery switch or

Circuit Breaker

not ON.

20-Amp circutt

breaker has tripped.

Must PREHEAT first.

Connection

solenoid

faulty.

FaUlty START switch.

Faulty solenoid.

Verification/Remedy

Check the

swttch, Breaker and!

or the battery connections.

Reset breaker;

H the breaker

trips again, check the preheat

solenoid

circutt and circuit for

shorts.

PREHEAT button must be

depressed

activate the

START button.

Check the connection.

Check the switch with an

ohmmeter.

Check that

Volts is present

at the solenoid connection on

the starter.
